This Privacy Policy explains how Deen Companion ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when you use our mobile application. Deen Companion is developed by DevSouq Technologies (Muhammad Ali Tahir), based in Pakistan. The App is designed to work almost entirely on your own device: we do not require an account, and we do not operate a backend server or database that stores your personal data.
Deen Companion does not have user accounts, sign-in, or profiles. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other identity information, because the App never asks for it.
If you use the Prayer Times or Qibla Direction features, the App requests access to your device's location
(ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION and ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION on Android) so it can:
Your coordinates are sent to the Aladhan API (see Section 3) solely to calculate prayer times, are cached on your device so the App doesn't need to ask again every time, and are not stored on any server we control, linked to an identity, or used for advertising or tracking. You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings — the rest of the App will continue to work normally.
When you tap the heart icon to favorite a Surah, Hadith, Name of Allah, or other content, or when you open/play something the App logs as "recent," that information is written to a local on-device database (Hive) using Android's app-private storage. It is never transmitted to us or to any third party. If you uninstall the App or clear its storage, this data is permanently deleted.
To avoid repeated network requests and let the App work offline, Quran, Hadith, Dua, and similar reference content fetched from our content providers is cached on your device. This is ordinary app content caching, not personal data about you.
Deen Companion is a free app supported in part by advertising. We use Google AdMob (part of Google's Mobile Ads SDK) to display ads in the App. To deliver, measure, and prevent fraud on those ads, Google's Mobile Ads SDK automatically collects and shares certain data with Google, including:
Depending on your region, consent, and device settings, ads shown may be personalized (based on interests/ad activity associated with your device) or non-personalized (shown without using such data). Where required — including for users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland — the App will present a consent form (via Google's User Messaging Platform) before showing personalized ads, and you can change your choice at any time from within that consent form or your device's ad settings.
You can opt out of personalized advertising and reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your device settings (Android: Settings > Google > Ads; iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking), or via Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com. Deen Companion is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly transmit the advertising ID or serve personalized ads to users known to be under 13; see Section 7.

Aside from the advertising SDK described above, we do not use any separate third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK in this version of the App. Standard diagnostic information (such as crash logs) may still be available to us through the Google Play Console, which is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Deen Companion connects to the following third-party services over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. We do not send them your name, email, or any account identifier — because we don't have one to send.

These are independent services with their own privacy practices. We encourage you to review their policies if you'd like more detail on how they handle request data on their end.

We do not sell your data to data brokers, and we do not use it for purposes unrelated to operating the App. The outbound data flows from the App are: (a) location coordinates sent directly to the Aladhan API to return prayer times (Section 1.2), and (b) advertising and device data shared with Google through the AdMob SDK to serve and measure ads (Section 1.5). Depending on your jurisdiction, sharing data with an ad network for advertising purposes may be considered a "sale" or "share" of personal information under laws such as the CCPA/CPRA — see your rights and opt-out options in Section 9.
Deen Companion is a general-audience educational and religious reference app intended for users 13 years of age or older. It is not directed at children under 13, and on Google Play it is declared as not primarily designed for or targeted to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we do not knowingly serve personalized ads or transmit the advertising ID for users known to be under 13 or of unknown age, consistent with Google Play's Families Policy and applicable children's privacy laws (such as COPPA). If you believe a child has provided us information in a way this policy hasn't accounted for, contact us using the details below and we will address it.
All network requests made by the App use HTTPS encryption in transit. Locally saved data (Favorites, Recent Activity, cached content) is stored within your device's app-private storage sandbox, which other apps cannot access without device-level compromise (e.g., root access).
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EEA/UK) or CCPA/CPRA (California) regarding personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete it, the right to object to or opt out of certain processing (including advertising-related data sharing), and the right to withdraw consent to personalized ads at any time. Because Deen Companion does not collect or store personal data on our servers, most of these requests are already satisfied by the fact that your data lives only on your device, or can be exercised directly through Google's consent and ad-settings controls described in Section 1.5. California residents may opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for advertising by disabling personalized ads as described above. The App can be used worldwide. Any data sent to third-party APIs or the AdMob advertising SDK (Sections 3 and 1.5) may be processed in countries other than your own, subject to those providers' own safeguards.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example as we add new features (such as cloud sync or accounts, if that ever happens — in which case this policy will be updated first to describe exactly what changes). We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
